Ex-solicitor Michael Lynn appears in court on €30m theft charge

Ex-solicitor Michael Lynn appeared in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday in connection with the alleged theft of nearly €30 million.

The 49-year-old, who spent five years in Brazil pending extradition, was returned to Ireland yesterday to face 21 charges under the Theft and Fraud Act 2001.

He is accused of stealing nearly €30 million from seven financial institutions between October 2006 and June 2007.

Judge Gerard Jones refused bail to Mr Lynn on the basis that he is and remains a flight risk and remanded him in custody to appear in court again on Friday 23 March.
