DPP employee accused of leaking confidential information

An employee of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has been accused of leaking confidential information about murder trials.

Jonathan Lennon, 34, is accused of four offences under sections 4 and 13 of the Official Secrets Act 1963, as amended by section 48 of the Freedom of Information Act 1997.

The alleged offences relate to the disclosure of information about the trial arising from the murder of dissident republican Peter Butterly, The Irish Times reports.

The trial will resume next month before Blanchardstown District Court.
