Disciplinary tribunal adjourns Declan O'Callaghan case until after civil action

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has adjourned proceedings against Ballaghaderreen solicitor Declan O’Callaghan until the conclusion of a separate civil action against him, the Irish Independent reports.

The tribunal was due to hear complaints against Mr O’Callaghan from businessman Tom Fleming and his son Sean.

However, the tribunal agreed to an application from Mr O’Callaghan’s defence for an adjournment until the conclusion of a separate civil lawsuit brought by the Flemings and Nirvanna Property Holdings Limited.

Tribunal chairman Philip Joyce said the adjournment would ensure there was no prejudice against any party.

Mr O’Callaghan, former principal solicitor at Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co. Solicitors, has been suspended as a solicitor since last July.
