Courts Service hand-delivering letters in bid to beat anti-eviction protests

Eight letters have reportedly been hand-delivered in Limerick by an appointed messenger since the start of the year.

The policy is part of a series of security measures aimed at disrupting courtroom demonstrations by anti-eviction protesters.

Last year, the Courts Service confirmed that it would no longer publish the dates on which home repossession proceedings will be heard.

At the time, Superintendent Derek Smart said: “We reviewed what we should do to make sure the court could do its business. We have taken appropriate measures. That’s the bottom line.”
