Court correspondent’s new play - Lex Talionis - premieres this week

Liam Heylin’s Lex Talionis revolves around a group of rooks on a building that overlooks an Irish park and their response to a newcomer – a suspicious magpie and the murder of a rook chick.

The Latin phrase refers to the principle of “an eye for an eye”.

Mr Heylin is courts correspondent for the Irish Examiner and has written a number of successful plays including Love, Peace and Robbery and The Hung Juror.

“It’s a tale of vengeance – and feathers,” he said.
