CCPC clears merger of Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited and CSG Chemical Solutions Limited
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has cleared the proposed purchase of Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited by CSG Chemical Solutions Limited (CSG).
CSG is headquartered in Shannon, Co. Clare and provides chemical solutions to the water treatment, environmental and hygiene industries. Celtic Water Care Solutions is headquartered in Co. Cork and advises commercial, industrial and public sector entities on their water treatment requirements. It also supplies chemicals and consumables for use in their customers’ treatment plants.
This proposed transaction (M/26/002) was notified to the CCPC on 6 January 2026. Following a preliminary Phase 1 investigation, the CCPC opened a Phase 2 investigation in May 2026 to establish if the acquisition would lead to a substantial lessening of competition in Ireland.
Throughout the merger review, the CCPC gathered significant information from the merging parties, customers, and other suppliers in the industry. This information indicated that the merger would not lead to a significant lessening of competition and the deal can now proceed. The CCPC will publish the full decision on its website within 60 working days, following redaction of confidential information.
