Browne Jacobson has appointed Kevin Moore as commercial partner, a major step in building an all-island legal platform for life sciences.

Mr Moore, who holds an MSc degree in medical device innovation, is the founder of DeNovo Legal a specialist firm that has been a trusted adviser to emerging and scaling companies within Galway and Ireland’s internationally recognised life sciences cluster.

Mr Moore is also an alumnus of the University of Galway BioInnovate Fellowship Programme, a specialist health technology innovation programme affiliated with Stanford Biodesign.

Based in Galway, Mr Moore joins UK and Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson to work alongside Dublin-based corporate partners Will Darmody and Gavin Bluett, as well as Chiara Quondamatteo, corporate associate specialising in life sciences.

Mr Moore said: “Browne Jacobson has an excellent reputation in health and life sciences across the UK and Ireland, together with strong network connections in the United States and the Middle East. I believe my experience of working with a broad spectrum of life sciences companies in Ireland will support the firm’s growing footprint here.

“It became clear through my discussions with the firm that its ambitions for this market closely match my own, with strong opportunities to support MedTech clients in particular.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Browne Jacobson. The firm’s reach, its investment in life sciences and the quality of the team will be of real value to companies here. I’m looking forward to building on what we have and doing even more for the businesses I have the privilege of advising.”

Gerard Hanratty, partner and head of health and life sciences at Browne Jacobson, said: “Galway is a world-class life sciences cluster and Kevin sits right at the heart of it. His expertise, network and track record make him an outstanding addition to our team, and his appointment takes our life sciences capability to a new level – not just in the UK and Ireland, but across the world.

“We are highly ambitious about growing our work in life sciences, a sector packed with innovators working at the very cutting edge of improving the health and wellbeing of people everywhere – a cause that is very much aligned with our mission to support clients at the forefront of tackling society’s biggest issues.”

Gavin Bluett, partner in Browne Jacobson’s Irish corporate team who is based in Galway, added: “Kevin’s appointment is a statement of ambition. Since our launch in Ireland four years ago, we have been building something genuinely differentiated.

“After establishing a base in Belfast, which gives us connected all-Island capability across the north-south corridor for life sciences, we’re now excited to be advising a growing list of clients in the west of Ireland, which is firmly established as a global hub for MedTech.”
