British Irish Chamber of Commerce announces Brexit roadshow

The British Irish Chamber of Commerce (BICC), sponsored by KPMG and Ulster Bank, has announced the launch of a year-long programme of events on the challenges and opportunities of Brexit.

The #Agenda2018 roadshow in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast, Edinburgh and London will put a spotlight on the impact of Brexit on SMEs, ICT, infrastructure, life sciences, financial and professional services, agribusiness and culture, arts, sports and tourism sectors.

The BICC has confirmed four dates on the roadshow so far:

  • Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy will provide the keynote address at the first breakfast seminar on Infrastructure on Monday 26 February.
  • An ICT seminar on Tuesday 27 February will hear from industry experts, including Jeanne Kelly, IP partner at LK Shields.
  • The main Brexit seminar on Thursday 1 March will hear from European Affairs Minister Helen McEntee.
  • The week will culminate with the BICC’s annual spring networking dinner, featuring Tánaiste and minister with responsibility for Brexit, Simon Coveney, as the keynote speaker.
  • John McGrane, BICC director general, said: “With the next phase of Brexit negotiations on the horizon, 2018 will set the agenda and framework for UK-Ireland trade in the years to come.

“In light of this, the Chamber has developed an innovate seminar series to help businesses chart this period of uncertainty and plan for the future. Our impressive line-up of speakers will provide their insight into the Brexit process, possible trading models post-Brexit, and how best to plan for the future. With UK-Irish trade set to witness great change, the stage is set for our most compelling event series yet.”
