Arthur Cox partner settles with gardaí over mistaken raid on his home

John Donald

Arthur Cox partner John Donald has settled his case against the Garda Commissioner and the State over a mistaken armed raid by gardaí.

Mr Donald and his wife, Helena Flanagan, brought an action for assault, false imprisonment, breach of privacy and infliction of emotional suffering to the High Court following the incident on 21 December 2012.

The defendants admitted liability in the case and lawyers for the State said gardaí had made “a catastrophic mistake” while searching for a cannabis growhouse.

The case came before Mr Justice Michael McGrath yesterday and he was informed that the parties had come to an agreement over damages, The Irish Times reports.
