And finally… unorthodox

Fast food giant McDonald’s is facing a lawsuit from an Orthodox Christian who claims its advertising pushed her to break her month-long fast for Lent.

Ksenia Ovchinnikova is demanding 1,000 rubles (around €11.60 EUR) in compensation for “moral damage” after her moment of weakness, RIA Novosti reports.

In court documents, she said she bought and ate a cheeseburger after seeing a billboard in Omsk after nearly a month of abstaining from meat, and later regretted it.

She had not failed a fast in 16 years and believes McDonald’s has violated consumer protection laws.
