And finally… torture

A lawyer has been jailed after he duped a former S&M dungeon master into believing the latter had won damages from Channel 4.

Andrew Davies, 34, told his client, retired dungeon master Shaun O’Driscoll, he was to receive £710,000 after making complaints about the show Me and My Slaves, a documentary on sadomasochism that he and his wife featured in.

But there was no such claim and Davies forged the documents relating to it.

Mr O’Driscoll, 58, only became aware of the deception when he asked the court for legal papers.

Davies also scammed other clients, including someone for whom he acted as best man, to the tune of £500,000, using the cash to pay off his debts at his Manchester law firm, Robert Meaton & Co, which collapsed in 2014.

He was struck off the roll after admitting theft and forgery at Bolton Crown Court, where was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years’ imprisonment.
