And finally… tatty bye

A woman has won €10,000 after claiming that an allegation that she shoplifted a bag of potatoes had blighted her character.

Lisa Moore, 38, was challenged by a security guard at Dunnes after a supervisor mistakenly raised the alarm, The Irish Times reports.

According to her lawyers, the allegation was made against her in view of the general public and it was later repeated to her by an acquaintance at a child’s confirmation two months later.

Judge Terence O’Sullivan of Dublin Circuit Court accepted Ms Moore’s account of events and awarded her €10,000 damages and costs.
