And finally… siren song

Mafia bosses have ordered ambulance drivers in Naples to stop using their sirens and lights because they are disrupting drug deals.

An ambulance in the city was accosted by armed men on motorbikes on Saturday night, The Times reports.

An emergency doctor said he and his colleagues had “already been ordered not to use sirens in other neighbourhoods”.

Ambulance staff are now calling for more police protection to allow them to operate safely in the city, a known mafia stronghold.
