And finally… on a roll

A local police department was left red-faced after accidentally ordering 24,000 rolls of toilet paper.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama, USA, spent $22,000 on toilet paper and $9,000 on trash bags - despite only having a $15,000 budget for janitorial supplies next year.

The mistake was only realised when a notice arrived from the vendor, Fox News reports.

Officials have apparently negotiated down the bill, but are now struggling to find storage space for the extra toilet rolls.

Newly-elected sheriff Phil Sims has pledged to work with local officials to solve the problem.
