And finally… nothing to crow about

A man has been ordered to pay thousands of pounds in costs after losing an appeal over a £200 fine for his noisy cockerel.
Neighbours of 80-year-old Hampshire man Harold Brown complained of being woken up at 5am by his cockerel crowing, the BBC reports.
Brown was issued with a noise abatement notice and was subsequently convicted in November 2024 of breaching it, leading to a £200 (€235) fine.
He appealed to Southampton Crown Court — unsuccessfully.
Brown has now been ordered by the court to pay an additional £3,351.95 (around €3,930) to cover costs arising from the appeal.
