McDonald’s has apologised for promoting a Halloween dessert with the slogan “Sundae Bloody Sundae”.
The fast food chain said the ad campaign in Portugal was not meant to be an “insensitive reference to any historical event”.
A photo of a banner bearing the slogan went viral on Twitter after it was shared by Irish singer-songwriter Big Monster Love.
The advertising campaign has since been removed from McDonald’s restaurants in Portugal.
