Richard McGuire, 42, said he didn’t realise the “tropical paradise” was a part of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The island, known as Discovery Island, was a zoological attraction before it was shut down in 1999. The entire resort is currently closed because of the pandemic.

Officers tracked him down after a search “on foot, by helicopter, and by boat”, News 6 WKMG reports.

Mr McGuire has been warned by police not to return to any Walt Disney World properties.
