And finally… justice at last

An Austrian man has won his 10-year court battle against a swimming pool that overcharged him for entry by €2.50.

The unnamed man travelled to a German spa in the Bavarian Alps where locals were offered a generous discount.

However, the man - travelling from Austria - was expected to cough up an extra €2.50 for the normal price of entry.

His first attempt to challenge the decision in court failed, but he continued to appeal until the case went before Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court, the highest in the land, ten years later.

According to The Local, that court finally ruled in his favour.

The court said the rejection of his claim by lower courts could not be understood from “any perspective”, and discounts exclusively for locals needed to be given greater justification.
