And finally… it’s murder being a law student

It has emerged that South African Olympian Oscar Pistorius, who was recently convicted of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, is studying for a law degree by correspondence at the University of London.

Mr Pistorus has avoided returning to jail as he awaits to appeal his conviction after he told a judge he needs access to the internet to study for the degree.

He said he has no income or assets left after killing his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day two years ago and is currently looking for work while he is under house arrest at his uncle’s mansion.

The athlete was granted bail pending his appeal to the Constitutional Court.

He has said in official documents he is studying at the London School of Economics. However, that university does not offer a correspondence course in law.

Mr Pistorius may be particularly interested in the doctrines of mens rea and actus reus during his studies.
