And finally… grave error

In a bizarre mix-up, a man released from a short jail sentence found that a man presumed to be him had been buried in his family plot.

Slava Brushkov came home from prison only to find that his neighbours, noticing his sudden absence, had reported him missing.

The local cops mistakenly assumed a badly mutilated body found near the village was Mr Brushkov, and buried him next to his parents.

Mr Brushkov, a Georgian, told Rusavi-2 TV: “When I left the prison, I went to clean my mother’s and father’s grave and near their feet some new deceased was lying. I have no idea who he might be.”

Regardless, he has been taking care of the new grave, bringing red eggs, wine and other offerings in a typical Easter custom.
