And finally… dopes

French cops took root and branch action to destroy what they thought was an illegal cannabis farm – only to discover that the 400 square metres of weed that they ripped up was an installation mixture of hemp, barley and flax that had been planted as part of the “Lyon Architecture Biennial”.

The installation was entitled ‘waiting room’ but cops wasted no time in hauling it out when they came across the plantation while patrolling in the city on June 26.

The plants were intended to be harvested to mark the end of the architecture event but police have blamed the organisers for not clearly signposting the plant as an artwork.
