And finally… I’m feeling lucky
Russia’s Supreme Court has upheld a fine imposed on search giant Google which is roughly a million times more than the combined GDP of the entire world.
Judge Sergei Samuylov said there were no grounds to review the imposition of the 91.5 quintillion rouble fine (around €1.2 quintillion or £1.05 quintillion), The Moscow Times reports.
The annual GDP of every country in the world put together is around €85 trillion or £72 trillion, according to the World Bank.
The absurd figure was finalised by a court in the spring after a years-long dispute over the removal of Russian TV channels from Google-owned YouTube in 2020.
Google no longer operates in Russia, having suspended operations after the all-out invasion of Ukraine and later being declared bankrupt by a Russian court in October 2023.
