And finally… bonkers

A top Israeli attorney suspected of offering to help secure appointments to the bench in exchange for sex has been arrested.

The unnamed man is alleged to have nominated a woman for appointment to a magistrates’ court in exchange for sex.

He is also accused of having sex with a judge’s wife in exchange for helping her husband in his ultimately unsuccessful bid to move from a magistrates’ court to a district court.

The investigation has rocked the Israeli legal profession but details are currently slim due to gag orders, The Times of Israel reports.

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Chief Justice Esther Hayut and other members of the judicial appointments committee are expected to testify in the case.
