Abbie Maldonado left the toddler in the parked car at Good Shepherd Academy, where she was picking up her son.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Gary Davidson said: “Maldonado got out to walk around and left the boy unsecured in the back of the vehicle with the rear passenger door propped open so she could keep an eye on the child.”

Maldonado was arrested and charged with child neglect after the incident, in which no one was hurt, before being released on bail.

The school principal released a statement warning parents to not to leave children unattended in a vehicle but failed to mention anything about guns.
