And finally… no compunction

Judges in Fiji have no sense of humour, especially those who make typos, it has been revealed.

A lawyer has been found guilty of contempt of court – for pointing out a spelling mistake made by a judge.

Fijian lawyer Richard Naidu had the temerity to correct a judge who had misspelled the word “injunction” in a judgment.

He pointed out the error on Facebook, saying the applicant in the case wanted it to be spelled correctly.

The Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, said the post was malicious and invited others to mock the judiciary.
