A&L Goodbody becomes Ireland's latest 'JAM Card friendly' business

A&L Goodbody has been announced as a “JAM Card friendly” business by the NOW Group, a social enterprise operating across Ireland that supports people who are neurodiverse, autistic or have a learning difficulty into jobs with a future.

The Just a Minute (JAM) Card is a simple and discreet tool provided by the NOW Group that allows people with learning difficulties, autism or other communication barriers to signal that they need a little extra time or patience.

Available as both a physical card and a mobile app, the JAM Card provides an easy, silent way for individuals to communicate their needs. There are currently 210,000 JAM Card users worldwide.

ALG partnered with the NOW Group a year ago and over 75 per cent of all employees have now undertaken the JAM Card online training, which equips colleagues with the awareness and confidence needed to respond with empathy and understanding.

The law firm has now joined over 3,500 other JAM Card friendly businesses.

Keavy Ryan, chair of ALG and NOW Group board member, said: “I’m incredibly proud that our firm has become a JAM Card friendly business.

“This is about creating an environment where people feel understood, respected and comfortable being themselves, whether they are our colleagues or the clients we work with every day.

“The level of engagement from our people shows a genuine commitment to inclusion and it sends a clear message that we are focused on building thoughtful, supportive relationships that work for everyone.”

Maeve Monaghan, CEO of NOW Group, said: “When we launched our three-year strategic partnership with A&L Goodbody, in March 2025, we spoke about the long-term impact we hoped this collaboration would have.

“With 75 per cent of their total workforce having now completed JAM Card training, the results are already speaking for themselves. It demonstrates their commitment to becoming a truly JAM Card friendly business goes far beyond words.

“At JAM Card, we believe that real change happens when organisations like A&L Goodbody lead by example, and we look forward to seeing the continued impact this partnership has on staff and clients alike.”

The strategic partnership with the NOW Group is part of ALG’s overall ambition of being a more diverse and inclusive organisation and to employ more people from underrepresented groups in the firm.

ALG also supports the NOW group through pro bono work, advising on matters such as corporate governance, property, employment and intellectual property.
