McCann FitzGerald launches AI-driven GDPR analysis app

McCann FitzGerald has launched a new AI-driven app to enable organisations to assess their compliance with the EU GDPR.

The GDPR Gap Analysis app, the “first of its kind”, also identifies areas of major risk where compliance efforts need to be focused.

It is the first in a series of services launched through a partnership announced last year with Neota Logic, creators of a leading AI platform, to design and market applications to assist McCann FitzGerald’s clients in reducing the time and cost of legal work.

Bringing together the knowledge and expertise of its market-leading data privacy lawyers and its dedicated R&D team, with Neota Logic’s ‘Intelligent Reasoning’ technology, the application uses an advanced weighted scoring system to assess very quickly an organisation’s compliance with its GDPR obligations.

An auto-generated report is produced providing an overall compliance score, with a breakdown of the areas of major risk. It then delivers high-level recommendations on which areas require the greatest attention to be compliant in time for the May deadline and, importantly, to assess compliance levels after the GDPR becomes applicable.

McCann FitzGerald managing partner, Barry Devereux, said: “This is a truly exciting offering and one that is a testament to the tremendous work that the highly-skilled McCann FitzGerald team is doing and the significant investment we are making to offer technology-based, innovative and cost-effective solutions for our clients.”

Adam Finlay, technology and innovation partner, added: “We’re just four months away from the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and there still is a lot of work to be done by organisations to prepare for its implementation.

“While there is an urgent need to review current data protection practices and consider what changes and updates are required, it’s not too late and this new GDPR Gap Analysis app allows users to make a good start or review progress on their GDPR compliance journey.”
