Law Society will not investigate two solicitors referred by CAB

Ken Murphy

The Law Society of Ireland has said it will not take disciplinary action against two solicitors referred to it by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB), the Sunday Independent reports.

Information on the two solicitors was passed on to the regulatory body out of concern about the work they carried out for clients targeted by the CAB.

Ken Murphy, director general at the Law Society, said: “The CAB has provided information to the Law Society about two solicitors. These were not complaints.

“Upon investigation, neither of these matters were referred to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal as there was insufficient legal and factual basis to take disciplinary proceedings.

“For legal reasons, the Law Society is unable to comment further.”
