Ms O’Hagan, 44, was a highly-respected lawyer and head of Matheson’s commercial real estate department, having joined as a solicitor’s apprentice in 1996.

In a statement published online, the firm said: “Throughout her career, she always demonstrated the utmost levels of integrity, service and leadership, and was held in high regard by her colleagues, her peers and her clients.

“Cara made an exceptional contribution to life at Matheson both as a partner and friend. She will be missed by us all. We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Cara’s family at this time.”
