Data Protection Associate (Senior Level)

The opportunity
We are looking to recruit an experienced data protection lawyer to join our new team in Ireland at a senior level.
You will be advising an exciting array of clients on a diverse range of challenging and cutting-edge data protection issues including GDPR implementation and compliance, data breach reporting and management, operationalisation of data subject rights, data transfer challenges, data protection litigation and children’s data protection compliance issues.
What you’ll do
- Work with our data protection partner and other fee earners in Ireland and across our international network to advise on a wide variety of exciting and cutting-edge data protection matters involving GDPR implementation and compliance issues, data breach reporting and management, operationalisation of data subject rights, data transfer challenges, data protection litigation and children’s data protection compliance issues.
- Build strong and lasting client relationships as a trusted, subject-matter expert advisor
- Collaborate with fee earners from other relevant disciplines and jurisdictions on multi-disciplinary and cross-border projects
- Play a significant role in business development activity, identifying and cultivating new business opportunities and promoting the firm’s data protection practice at conferences and speaking events nationally and internationally
- Lead on knowledge management initiatives within the group including delivering training sessions, contributing to articles and updates for publication and developing specialist know-how materials.
About you
- An excellent understanding of the data protection legal regime in Ireland and the EU with considerable experience of data protection regulatory and/or compliance work at a senior level gained inhouse or in a comparable law firm environment.
- Outstanding academics.
- High levels of initiative and self-motivation and a drive to excel in their chosen area of practice.
- Flexibility, supporting cases across a broad range of data protection issues.
- The ability and confidence to act as a lead advisor and client contact point and to manage multiple aspects of complex matters and client relationships.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with excellent legal drafting, legal analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- The desire and ability to work collaboratively across teams and jurisdictions and to build strong, lasting relationships with colleagues and clients.
- An interest in mentoring junior lawyers and developing a strong team ethic and spirit.
A substantial interest in evolving data protection issues and legal developments and commitment to keeping their own technical expertise and specialist knowledge up to date
