Over 200 Matheson lawyers benefit from Cambridge collaboration

More than 200 Matheson lawyers have attended the University of Cambridge’s business school over the course of a partnership launched 10 years ago.

The law firm is celebrating 10 years of partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education, which collaborates with Matheson on its professional development programmes for its partners and senior associates.

More than three-quarters of the firm’s 127 partners have attended either as participants or sponsors.

Managing partner Michael Jackson said: “At Matheson, our people are central to everything that we do. We pride ourselves on providing a first-class service to our clients, by anticipating their needs and delivering the best possible results to them.

“Ongoing investment in the development of our people, using the most up to date management theory and practices, are critical to achieving this. A decade since the first cohort completed the programme, this comprehensive legal training and education has continued to evolve and deliver excellent results.

“The ongoing evolution of the programmes reflects the strong partnership between Judge Business School and Matheson and the understanding, which has built up over the decade of interaction between us, of the areas of focus which lead to best results for our people and our clients.”

Mark Smith of Cambridge Judge Business School said: “Over the last decade, our collaboration with Matheson has been a fantastic demonstration of integrating real-world legal challenges with our practitioner and academic insight.

“It’s been a privilege to witness the development of Matheson’s next generation of leaders, who have fully engaged with the learning environment we have co-created.  We’re looking forward to continuing and evolving this dynamic partnership in the years to come.”

Nicola White, head of learning and development at Matheson, added: “At Matheson, we actively seek to facilitate the development and engagement of our people, allowing them to progress and expand their career within the firm.

“Over the course of the past 10 years our learning and development team have worked closely with the Cambridge Judge Business School as well as with each of the firm’s practice areas to ensure that the programme remains relevant and innovative.”
