Legal and tax advisory firm Orbitus has announced four appointments as part of the “first wave” of a major expansion.
The firm has welcomed Eoin Casey as head of litigation and Carmel O’Shea Maloney as head of legal for Beam, the firm’s online conveyancing product.
Triona O’Brien has also joined as a conveyancing solicitor and Cathal Murphy as a legal executive in the property team.
The appointments follow the firm’s leasing of a prime 5,000 sq. ft. office space in the heart of Tralee town centre earlier this year, which it said would accommodate more than 50 additional staff members.
Prior to joining Orbitus, Mr Casey practised for a number of years at a well-established Cork firm in a litigation-focused role and before that at a prominent Dublin general practice.
He was admitted to practise in Australia at an earlier stage of his career, where he gained extensive international experience in commercial litigation, particularly in the areas of insolvency and debt recovery.
He practises primarily in the areas of commercial and civil litigation and has represented corporate and private clients at all court levels across a variety of areas including commercial and contract disputes, probate litigation, licensing law, debt (including commercial loan) recovery, professional negligence and personal injury litigation.
He also represents and advises employers and employees in a wide range of employment law matters, including at tribunal hearings.
Ms Maloney is a tech-savvy property and lending solicitor who brings a combined legal and management background to Beam.
She joins from a well-respected Cork-based law and tax firm and has a certificate in conveyancing. She completed her conveyancing training at a top-tier Dublin law firm.
Her unique insight into automating manual legal processes stems from her work on a development team that implemented a compliance monitoring system at a multinational financial services company.
She worked as a New York attorney for many years and is an accredited mediator.
