Matheson LLP has appointed Julie Murray as its new head of knowledge management.

It marks Ms Murray’s return to Matheson, where she began her legal career as an associate in corporate M&A, before moving to London to further her career with another international law firm.

She previously returned to Matheson’s corporate team as a senior associate, spending five years focusing on restructuring work, working closely with the insolvency and banking teams.

Ms Murray later changed the focus of her career to knowledge management and worked with two other large Irish law firms to shape their knowledge functions.

She now returns to Matheson as head of knowledge management and will be in charge of developing best-in-class knowledge solutions and thought leadership products for use by both Matheson lawyers and clients.

Managing partner Michael Jackson said: “We are delighted to welcome Julie back to Matheson to lead our knowledge management team.

“The delivery to clients and colleagues of timely and tailored sectoral market and legal information is central to our ability to be and remain the law firm of choice for international companies and financial institutions doing business in and from Ireland.

“Our strategy is to continue to find innovative ways to make that information accessible and engaging and to ensure that we are sharing it in ways that are most relevant and useful to its recipients.

“Julie’s many years of experience as a practitioner and as a leader of knowledge management teams mean that she is ideally positioned to lead the Matheson knowledge management team through its next phase of growth and development.”
