Lawyers were among the thousands of people who took to the streets on Saturday for Dublin’s annual Pride parade.

More than 280 organisations took part in this year’s event, including the OUTLaw Network, which promotes LGBT+ inclusion in the Irish legal sector.

OUTLaw’s annual pre-Pride party heard from guest speakers including Attorney General Rossa Fanning SC, Law Society Council member Martin Lawlor and Bar Council chairman Seán Guerin SC.

Miah Phelan-Sweeney, co-chair of OUTLaw, told Irish Legal News: “We were absolutely thrilled at the turnout to our annual pre-Pride party and want to thank all participants for their enthusiastic support.

“We were also delighted to see so many join us to march in the parade to mark the continued fight for equality.

“OUTLaw is committed to celebrating the huge achievements of Irish society in recent years but also to continuing the progress to ensure that our whole LGBTQ+ community can experience these wins also, particularly our trans friends and the LGBTQ+ families who are still fighting for equality.”

Co-chair Orla Hubbard thanked Mr Fanning, Mr Lawlor and Mr Guerin for taking part in the network’s event.

“OUTLaw is grateful for their continued support and the support of our partner firms which is essential to promote the visibility and inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals in the legal profession,” she said.

The OUTLaw Network will march alongside the Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) at Trans and Intersex Pride on Saturday 12 July, with more details to follow on social media.
