Prosecution barristers in David Drumm case paid over €1m

The four prosecution barristers who worked on the trial of former Anglo Irish Bank CEO David Drumm were paid €1.123 million for their work, the Irish Independent reports.

Mr Drumm was convicted of taking part in a multi-billion euro fraud scheme at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after an 87-day trial, the third-longest trial in the history of the State.

Paul O’Higgins SC, Mary Rose Gearty SC, Sinead McGrath BL and Diana Stuart BL shared pay of €10,000 per day.

Anonymised figures reveal that two senior counsel received €370,953 and €367,263 each, while two junior counsel received €255,894 and €129,023.

The figures were released by the Director of Public Prosecutions following a Freedom of Information request by the newspaper.
