Millar McCall Wylie has promoted personal injury and commercial litigation specialist William McSorley to partner.

Mr McSorley will work alongside department head Caroline Prunty with responsibility for the ongoing expansion of the litigation department, as well as the wider development of the firm’s client base across all areas of the business.

The promotion comes amid exceptional growth for the Belfast-based firm, which has seen revenues in the corporate team grow by 100 per cent over the last three years.

The firm boasts an employee retention rate of 95 per cent across its two Belfast offices, and plans to grow its team of 40 by a fifth over the course of the year.

Managing partner Peter McCall said: “Internal progression is an essential part of Millar McCall Wylie’s continued success, and we’re delighted to be able to recognise William’s hard work and contribution to the firm with his well-deserved promotion to partner.

“I’m looking forward to seeing William flourish as he steps up to the challenge, leading his team to deliver the best possible service to our clients.”

Mr McSorley said: “Being promoted to partner is a milestone in my career and an achievement I am very proud of. My focus is now on continuing to add value to my team, the wider business and our clients.”

Originally from Armagh, Mr McSorley has extensive experience advising clients on issues relating to all areas of civil litigation and has represented a wide range of claimants, insurers and local businesses.

Dual-qualified, he studied law at Trinity College Dublin and practised in the Republic of Ireland for several years before relocating back to his native Northern Ireland. He has been with Millar McCall Wylie for four years.
