DWF hires from rivals to make five senior appointments in Dublin

Global legal business DWF has announced the appointment of four new partners and a senior claims adjuster in its Dublin office.

The appointments, which include three hires from rival firms, bring the headcount to 60 at the Irish headquarters opened by DWF in 2013.

Fergus Hennessy has joined from ByrneWallace as a real estate partner, bringing over 14 years’ experience acting for clients on all aspects of commercial real estate including acquisitions and disposals, development, property finance and commercial landlord and tenant.

Mr Hennessy also advises in relation to the acquisition and development of build-to-rent/Private Rental Sector (PRS) schemes.

Daniel Scanlon has joined as an insurance partner from Kennedys, where he was a partner for over three years.

Bringing over 16 years’ experience to his new role, Mr Scanlon specialises in advising insurance companies on claims and disputes with a particular focus on professional negligence claims within the construction and financial services sectors.

Ruairí MacCumhaill has joined as a banking and finance partner from William Fry, bringing more than 12 years’ experience working with domestic and international financial institutions, alternative lenders and borrowers operating in Ireland.

His practice consists primarily of acquisition, development and real estate finance including project finance, having recently advised a leading financial institution on the delivery of a large housing scheme. He also has experience in loan sales, financial regulation and general corporate banking, working across various sectors.

Edon Byrnes has been promoted to partner in the corporate team. A specialist corporate lawyer, with a strong focus on renewable energy and healthcare, Mr Byrne has more than 15 years’ experience and provides commercial advice to businesses ranging from SMEs to large corporates

He advises on private equity backed transactions, mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy, corporate restructurings and financings (many with an international or cross border element). He regularly advises funders and investors and has co-ordinated cross-jurisdictional projects in relation to the acquisition and disposal of renewable assets.

Finally, Jayne Mannion has been promoted to senior claims adjuster within DWF’s Connected Services division, an international claims administration service operating within the commercial liability claims marketplace.

Ms Mannion will support DWF clients in the proactive resolution of claims emanating from professional liability, general liability, property, motor & auto liability, directors & officers, legal expenses, financial institutions and contractors.
