  • Fieldfisher advises Simple Blue Energy on 200MW floating wind project

European law firm Fieldfisher has advised Simply Blue Energy on its deal with Subsea 7 to develop a 200MW floating wind project off the north-east coast of Scotland.

The companies have formed a joint venture partnership, where Subsea 7 has a minority interest, to develop a pre-commercial project.

Feilim O’Caoimh, corporate partner and head of Fieldfisher’s renewable energy team in Dublin, led the team advising Simply Blue on the project, supported by corporate solicitor Jamie Woodcock.

Mr O’Caoimh said: “We are proud to have once again worked alongside Simply Blue Energy in closing another important transaction, as it leads the way in the development of floating wind projects.

“Floating wind farms are the next generation of wind technology and will support the accelerated deployment of renewable energy globally.”

  • Maples and Calder advises Luna Systems on investment funding

Maples and Calder (Ireland) LLP, the Maples Group’s law firm, has advised Luna Systems on its funding from an investment consortium.

Former Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll and two business partners have invested in Luna Systems, an Irish e-mobility start-up that will bring computer vision technology to e-scooters across Europe and the USA.

Luna Systems uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to improve e-mobility safety. The funding will be used to accelerate the global roll-out of Luna Systems’ technology across a range of cities, operators and vehicle types.

Partner Patrick Quinlan led the Maples and Calder team advising Luna Systems on the Irish corporate legal aspects of the transaction.

  • LK Shields advises Renatus Capital Partners on investment in Kappture

LK Shields LLP has advised Renatus Capital Partners on its investment in Kappture, having previously advised on the establishment of Renatus’ new €40m fund from which the investment was made.

Renatus is focused on providing supportive equity capital (minority and majority) to ambitious SMEs across Ireland and the UK.

Kappture is a leading provider of in-house developed EPOS (electronic point-of-sale) and mobile payments software in the stadia, education, and hospitality industries.

Corporate partner Emmet Scully and associate solicitor Lisa McEllin led the LK Shields team, assisted by Stephen GambleRuairí Mulrean, Jennifer O’Neill, Ciara O’Kennedy and Jane O’Grady.

  • Flynn O’Driscoll advises Horseware Ireland on investment

Business law firm Flynn O’Driscoll (FOD) has advised Irish equestrian firm Horseware Ireland on inwards investment by Lonsdale Capital Partners.

Horseware Ireland employs over 500 people globally, with annual revenues in excess of €40m and facilities that are wholly and directly owned and managed by the company in Ireland, the USA, China and Cambodia.

Tom MacGuinness, who founded the company with his wife Carol in 1985, will continue as a shareholder and a director of the company.

Ross Finegan, co-founder of Lonsdale Capital Partners, will join the board of Horseware Ireland.

Corporate partners Declan Cunningham and David Ryan, solicitor Elaine Cully, associate Majella Lynch and trainee Eliza O’Grady made up the FOD team advising on the transaction.
