A law student who received first-degree burns on a flight just before his graduation has been awarded €10,000 in damages at Dublin Circuit Civil Court.
Kevin Keenan, 23, was injured when a crew member on a Ryanair flight accidentally splashed boiling water on him as he was returning to Ireland from Malaga, the Irish Examiner reports.
The boiling water landed on his right foot, which crew members immediately treated with burn solution and ice.
At the time, Mr Keenan was travelling home for his graduation at UCD.
Judge Karen Fergus said an appropriate award of damages would be €10,000 plus special damages of €77 and costs.
